Joseph La Brie Asked to Serve a Second Term as Chairman of the Hospital Building Safety Board
It has been a full and productive past two years for the Hospital Building Safety Board (HBSB) as they forge ahead, advising the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) regarding seismic, fire and life safety. As La Brie's two year term as HBSB Chairman began to come to a close in November, 2010, he was asked to serve and additional two-year term as Chairman.
Joseph La Brie, SE and President of Makeitright, Inc. was honored to be asked to serve for another two years as Chairman, saying “I do not take this responsibility casually, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to serve the Industry in this capacity.”
The HBSB is comprised of a wide variety of volunteer, industry experts. This enables them to see all sides of seismic, fire and life safety issues that could not be achieved without each unique members' input. The purpose of the HBSB is both to advise the Director of OSHPD on the administration of Hospital Facilities and Seismic Safety Act, and to act as a board of appeals with regard to seismic safety and fire and life safety issues relating to hospital facilities.
La Brie is confident that the HBSB will continue to have a positive impact on the changes and emerging issues occurring in the design and construction of healthcare facilities in California. “I have been in this business long enough to know that positive change and industry improvements happen because of the several individuals that are willing to give of their time and resources in order to work together as a team” said La Brie.
