Joseph La Brie Elected 2013 President for the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC)
In July of 2012, Joseph La Brie, SE and President of Makeitright, Inc. was asked to serve as the President for the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California. After serving a two year term as the director, and one year terms as treasurer and president-elect, La Brie is humbled and honored to serve the association as its President. “I do not take this responsibility casually, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to serve the Industry in this capacity,” says La Brie.
SEAOSC has over 1000 members which represent all phases of the construction industry, and is primarily made up of engineers involved in building and bridge design /research in both Southern California and throughout the world. The goal of the Structural Engineers Association has been to combine the talents of some of California's most qualified engineers in order to provide the public with safe and economical buildings.
In October of 2012, SEAOSC put on The Buildings at Risk Summit where a multi-disciplined group of industry professionals met to brainstorm ways of designing and constructing safer, stronger buildings in a preemptive step to fight loss of life and property in future seismic events. La Brie will continue to forge ahead in an effort to better the industry. As he puts it, “I am grateful to be working alongside such brilliant, innovative, and selfless engineers willing to give of their time in order to make this Association great.”
